Ingredients:
8 large eggs
1 cup heavy cream (you can use milk for a lighter version)
1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar is classic, but you can mix it up with Swiss, mozzarella, or gouda)
1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (about 6-8 strips of bacon)
1/4 cup chopped green onions or shallots (optional, for extra flavor)
1/2 cup sautéed spinach or other veggies (like mushrooms or bell peppers—optional)
1/2 tsp garlic powder or 1 tsp Dijon mustard (for extra flavor)
1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
Butter or olive oil for greasing the baking dish
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Baking Dish:
Grease a 9-inch pie dish or similar baking dish with butter or olive oil. You can also line it with parchment paper if you prefer.
Cook the Bacon:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the pan and place on paper towels to drain. Once cooled, crumble it into small pieces.
Optional Veggies:
If you’re using veggies like spinach, sauté them in a little bit of olive oil until wilted and any moisture has evaporated. If using mushrooms or bell peppers, sauté them until soft and moisture is released.
Make the Egg Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 8 eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Stir in the cheese, crumbled bacon, and any veggies or green onions you want to include. Mix everything well.
