Ready in 15 minutes, a magical science experiment!

Instructions:

1. Fill the glass jar about halfway with hot water. Be careful not to burn yourself! Ask a grown-up for help if you need it.
2. If you’re using blue food coloring, add a few drops to the hot water and stir gently until the water is a light blue color. This step is optional, but it will make your rain cloud look even more realistic.
3. Spray a generous layer of shaving cream onto the top of the hot water. This will represent your cloud. Try to make it relatively even.
4. Carefully place a few ice cubes on top of the shaving cream “cloud.” The ice will cool the air around it.
5. Now, for the exciting part! Watch carefully as tiny droplets of water begin to form on the underside of the shaving cream “cloud” and then drip down into the water below – just like rain! You may need to add more ice cubes as the existing ones melt.
6. Use a dropper or small spoon to add more drops of water to your cloud if the rain slows down. This allows you to keep the “rain” going for longer.
7. Continue to observe the process. You can experiment with adding more ice or more shaving cream to see how it affects the “rainfall.”
8. Once you’re done observing, carefully dispose of the water and clean your jar. Have fun exploring the science of weather!
