Fig, Ricotta & Honey Tartines

📝 Fig, Ricotta & Honey Tartines
Golden, crisp country bread, topped with creamy ricotta, sweet ripe figs, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of golden honey — this is the kind of simple yet elegant dish that feels at home on a Parisian café table or at your own breakfast nook. These tartines are quick to prepare, but their flavor profile is complex: earthy bread, delicate cheese, floral honey, and the freshness of basil all in one bite.

🍴 Servings & Timing
Serves: 4 people (makes 8 tartines)

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Difficulty: Easy

🌿 Ingredients
🍞 8 slices country-style bread (≈ 240 g)

🧀 200 g ricotta cheese

🍇 8 fresh figs, sliced

🍯 40 g liquid honey

🌿 12 fresh basil leaves

🫒 1 tbsp olive oil (15 ml)

🧂 Fine sea salt, to taste

🌶 Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

🥣 Step-by-Step Preparation
1️⃣ Toast the bread
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F (fan-assisted if possible).
Place bread slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
Toast in the oven for 5 minutes, just until golden and crisp — they should be crunchy on the outside but still tender inside.

2️⃣ Add the ricotta
While the bread is still warm, spread about 25 g ricotta on each slice.
Season lightly with salt and a twist of pepper for balance.

3️⃣ Arrange the figs
Place 2–3 fig slices 🍇 on each tartine, slightly overlapping for a beautiful presentation.

4️⃣ Drizzle with honey
Generously drizzle about 5 g honey per tartine (roughly 1 tsp). The sweetness ties all the flavors together.

5️⃣ Garnish with basil
Tear basil leaves into smaller pieces and sprinkle over the tartines.
This adds a burst of freshness and a hint of aromatic complexity.
