Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the Spicy Beef Sauce:
500 g (1.1 lbs) ground beef
1 onion, finely sliced 🧅
2 garlic cloves, minced 🧄
1 tbsp tomato paste 🍅
1 can (400 g / 14 oz) chopped tomatoes
1 tsp smoked paprika 🌶️
½ tsp ground cumin
A pinch of chili powder (adjust to taste) 🌶️🔥
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt & pepper to taste
Fresh coriander or parsley leaves for garnish 🌿
For the Mashed Potatoes:
800 g (1.75 lbs) potatoes, waxy or starchy variety
50 g (3.5 tbsp) butter 🧈
100 ml (⅓ cup + 1 tsp) hot milk 🥛
2 tbsp crème fraîche (optional)
Salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg
Preparation
1️⃣ Make the Creamy Mashed Potatoes:
Peel and cut the potatoes into evenly sized chunks.
Boil in salted water until tender (about 20 minutes).
Drain and mash thoroughly with a potato masher or ricer.
Stir in butter, hot milk, and optional crème fraîche.
Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. Mix until smooth and creamy.
